Local Law Enforcement
Around fifty vehicles have been marked with what appears to be human blood in the Germany's municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.
Vehicles, building surfaces and postboxes were vandalized, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they stated in a statement.
Law enforcement report they were contacted late on Wednesday evening, when a individual observed that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored fluid.
The substance had been applied in the form of a swastika, they reported.
Law enforcement then located many other marked automobiles and residential walls in the nearby vicinity.
These symbols are prohibited in Germany under laws outlawing the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.
Law enforcement say preliminary tests suggest the liquid was probably human blood.
"At present there remains no indication as to where it came from; authorities are currently not aware of any harm in connection with the incident," they commented.
City officials said they were trying "to unravel the case" and have requested to the community for information.
A senior representative said the attack left him without words and needed to be resolved quickly.
"This incident hits the core of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the far-right terrorist attack in 2020," he wrote on social media, recalling the killing of nine victims by a assailant focusing on residents of foreign heritage in five years prior.
