Major Moscow's Strikes Cut Electricity In Ukraine's Capital

Energy infrastructure targeted in the region
The country's energy systems have faced increased strikes in the past few days

During the night, Russian missile and drone strikes have caused power cuts in multiple districts of Ukraine's capital, Kyiv.

Nine people were wounded while inhabitants in the city's east were plunged into darkness and faced disruption to water systems, per reports from local authorities.

Simultaneously, a seven-year-old child was killed in a different Russian drone strike in the Zaporizhzhia region in the southeastern part, according to regional authorities.

Russian forces has intensified attacks on electrical systems over the past few days, while officials has called for "substantial measures" from partner nations to apply pressure on Moscow.

"What is required is not symbolic gestures but decisive action - from the US, the EU and the G7 - in supplying defensive weapons and applying penalties," was stated in a social media post.

Authorities reported that numerous aerial vehicles and over thirty projectiles struck Ukraine's energy infrastructure, describing such assaults as "cynical and calculated" and against "critical infrastructure" as winter approaches.

The energy minister said Russia was "launching a major assault" and repair crews were laboring to restore power.

A barrage of missiles hit power facilities and residential structures in the capital.

Multiple people hurt in the attacks on the city have been hospitalized, according to local officials.

Regional authorities said the city experienced heavy assaults during nighttime hours. A seven-year-old child lost their life and multiple civilians were wounded.

The attacks succeed evenings of aerial attacks in the area, parts of which are currently controlled by Russian forces.

The entire country is under warning for advanced weapon attacks, which are harder to detect.

National leaders told journalists that Moscow was deliberately attempting to demolish the country's energy grid, with assaults already disrupting energy systems.

Authorities confirmed technical personnel and government agencies were preparing for further attacks.
